It's almost one month into my time on Constantiam. I am way in over my head with today's gamer culture. I've been out of this scene for over 5 years. Nevertheless, people seem to like you when you just be yourself, so that's what I did. However, being myself doesn't mean that I've forgotten what trolling is, or how to react to trolls – or how to be a troll.

As I was becoming more established, and having a dupe stash under my belt due to a lucky trade with CuBoyd, I started embracing some of my LARP-y side and began offering my Wandering Scribe Essentials kit as currency for trading to get items from other people. The kit:

Anyway, at some point Cosmyck and other people started calling my kit useless and 'gay.' While I often wished I was gay back when I had no clue how to speak to women, alas, I am not gay. Even so, with any trolling, the only winning move is not to play. So, I simply replied with:

Out of nowhere, a torrent of messages erupt in the chat, words like 'based,' 'gigachad,' and photos of unrealistically muscular, chiseled shirtless men flash on my screen. I was absolutely baffled. "What is a gigachad?" "Is it bad if I take a red pill every day? Give me a break, guys, it's for my schizophrenia!" "Based?? Based on what??"

Needless to say, it took me several months to decipher through the nuanced layers of this vernacular, dissecting the difference between what is victimized incel behavior and casual gamer edginess. At this point, I think I can safely assume they were complimenting me, but I was unsure for a very long time.
